AIR Live in NYC and San Francisco March-April 2008
AIR will be on exhibit simultaneously on the east and west coast of the US in March and April of 2008. How does the pollution compare in the city that never sleeps vs. the city by the bay? Are you rooting for the left coast or right coast? Join the experiment if you are in either city during those months by visiting either Eyebeam in NYC or Southern Exposure in SF.

AIR Goes to Brazil!
AIR travels to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in NOV 2007. We will be conducting three walking tours during the Arte.Mov festival. Check back later to see the results and documentation.

AIR at the Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh
AIR devices will be on display in Pittsburgh during the "6 Billion Perps Held Hostage! Artists Address Global Warming" exhibition at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh starting March 10, 2007. If you are in the area, check it out.

AIR First Run Ends
Thank you to all those who visited our headquarters and participated in AIR! We have stopped public distribution of the devices and will focus on making improvements to this ongoing experiment.

Project HQ Open + Data Vis Live
The AIR project launched on September 14, 2006 in Lower Manhattan at the AIR headquarters located in 125 Maiden Lane (map). The headquarters were open to the public on 9/15, 9/16 & 9/18-20 from 12-7 pm.

AIR in Belo Horizonte, Brasil
AIR participated in the Arte.Mov festival in Belo Horizonte, Brasil, during November 2007. Preemptive Media led two workshops, exhibited the project in the festival exhibition and presented a lecture during their stay.

AIR at Riverside
AIR at Riverside is a collaboration between Preemptive Media and the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice, an organization based in Riverside, CA. This collaboration examines overlaps and mutual interests between artistic projects, activist agendas and community involvement. Presentations will be at UC Riverside on Thursday, May 31st in HMNSS 1500, from 1:00-3:00, followed by an informative walking tour with AIR devices in nearby Mira Loma.

6 BILLION PERPS HELD HOSTAGE! Artists Address Global Warming @ The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh, PA
This exhibition showcases a diverse collection of art works, including textiles, videos, paintings, drawings, inflatables, photography and music, all directing attention to the topic of global warming. These works serve to raise awareness of our current state of affairs, including U.S. policy, natural disasters, the destructive power of corporations, and the harmful effects of carbon production in the food industry as well as initiate public dialog about the issue. The exhibition is a collection of works by Andy Warhol and contemporary artists, including The Yes Men, Preemptive Media, Jay Critchley, The Institute For Figuring, Hugo Kobayashi, Trevor Paglen, Marjetica Potrc, Cai Guo-Qiang, Greg Kwiatek, Bobby Pickett and Horseback Salad, Steffi Domike-Suzy Meyer-Ann Rosenthal, and Bob Bingham.

Launch and Release Party, 5-7pm
Come celebrate the launch of AIR at this "release party." Our first carriers will take to the streets with the devices and set the network (and data visualization...) in motion. Come test drive a device or burn your daily dose of coal with us. Why let the electric companies have all the fun?

The party is from 5-7 pm at the AIR Headquaters, 125 Maiden Lane (map). This opening is held in conjunction with LMCC's What Comes After: Cities, Art and Recovery, an international summit of artists, architects, poets, writers, performers, filmmakers, and musicians, to consider the role of art and culture after crisis in cities across the globe.

Beta Testing Workshop, 12-4pm
Be one of the first to use an AIR device! Preemptive Media on June 24 at Eyebeam Art + Technology Center in New York City beta tested the AIR devices. During this workshop we gave a brief overview of our production process and background research. Participants then helped us to test the devices and data visualization application. As a group we also brainstormed strategies for user interaction and participation for the project launch in September 2006.
